Welcome to the Home of The Northern Lights Radio Club! NLRC is the youngest radio interest club in Mid-Michigan, formed to enjoy the lighter side of Amateur Radio. We enjoy the fun aspects of HF operations such as contesting, DX’ing, and the socializing that comes with it. We are very unique in the local area as most organizations around Genesee County are VHF/UHF based. There are two types of contest groups, those that wish to win at all costs and everyone else. We consider ourselves the latter. Yup, we are all a bunch of noobz!

Although we love the spirit of competition, we contest for fun. We enjoy the social aspects of coming together, celebrating all the "multis" and "new-ones", as well as bringing more hams into the hobby.

You don't have to be a "Big Gun" to hang with us! We exist for the regular ham. If you don't have a station that requires Bill Gates to co-sign for, then this club is for you. We are a small group so far, but interest among local hams Is increasing. We are always looking for more members! If you are interested in membership, please check out our membership information page or contact any of us. We also enjoy “elmering” new and future hams into the hobby, so if you are thinking about getting your license, feel free to contact us! The goal of NLRC is to bring together local amateur radio operators that have an interest in HF activities, but most of all we want to have fun with ham radio.
